Hilla Shamia

Israeli product designer Hilla Shami has designed this furniture that combings cast aluminium and wood. The casting process means that the wood is burnt creating a dark border between the metal and wood. The result of this process is a natural outline like making fossils with plaster you can view where the aluminium has seeped around the textures of the tree. Marrying the cool shiny smooth metal with the natural form of the scorched tree trunk is a visual delight. (thanks)
