Louise Nevelson

Louise Nevelson (1899-1988) was born in Russia and emigrated to America when she was 6 years old. She is best know for these monumental monochromatic wooden wall pieces, though she was a printer and painter as well.

She became known as one of the most innovative female sculptors and indeed American sculptors of the 20th Century.

"I think all great innovations are built on rejections."  Louise Nevelson
