Spun by Thomas Heatherwick

'Could a completely rotationally symmetrical form make a comfortable chair?'

In answering this question Thomas Heatherwick created full size test pieces where visually the seat, back and arms are of the same profile. The result is not immediately obviously a chair, when it is upright it looks like a decoration or sculpture however when tilted it forms a functional, comfortable chair in which the sitter can rock from side to side or even spin a complete circle.
