Studio Schneemann

"It is the Flip Flops telling the story. They are discoloured, worn, torn, patched up and eventually tossed away or lost. After a long trip through Asia or Africa they end up in sewers and in the ocean. Then they are washed up on the shores of Eastern Africa. There they are found, collected, and eventually reclaimed. Turned into a collection of sustainable design objects in which the eventful travel tales of worn Flip Flops is captured and translated."

Marzia Chierichetti II

More work from the Italian designer Marzia Chierichetti who lives and works in Africa. Beguilingly simple and stunningly beautiful work. (thanks)

Marzia Chierichetti I

Marzia Chierichetti is a designer who's work is very much a response to living in Africa and yet has the style of the contemporary Europe in which she grew up and trained. Marzia's furniture is made from rough hune wood, solid, statuesque, reassuring and simply stunning. Its monumental styling give that feeling of space and wilderness.(thanks)
