Downcreek Paddles
Downcreek Paddles are a Belfast based group of woodworkers who through their love of woodwork and canoeing increasingly became drawn to the art of paddle making and the craft of canoe building.
The paddles came after a wooden canoe was crafted and they couldn't source any paddles with the same aesthetic and craftsmanship. Over the years Downcreek Paddles have developed a range of paddles that have been refined and tested by professionals and developed in the pursuit of perfection. They are objects of beauty, craft and practicality.

John Lee
John Lee's furniture apart from being of stunning and unique design, has incredible complex treatments of the woods surfaces without detracting from the pure simple forms of his design, a delicate balance that is hard to achieve. "I am trying to let the client experience some of the sensual experiences I feel while working with the wood" It's a beautifully tactile material in its natural state with each species having its own distinct and refreshing aroma." Colum Keller
I am still relaxing so I thought I would show you this wonderful laid back mirror, 'Made by Eimear' designed by Colum Keller. Inspired by his little sister playing in the bathroom pretending to be a diva, Colum wanted to create furniture that captured his sisters playful charm. Happy New Year.

Superfolk

'49 stools' is a collaboration between Jo Anne Butler and Gearoid Muldowney (superfolk). Who with this project attempted to challenge the notion of handcrafted being a precious display object and make it more of a usable commodity of frequent use. I like the flexibility that the rope stitching affords in that the stools can easily become benches and can be decreased and increased into different unit combinations to utilise different space allocation.
