Yesterday I visited Glasgow School of Art's Degree show and watched the finished version of this beautiful documentary about Skiffs made by Sophia Sheppard
The Scottish Coastal Rowing Project, based at The Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther was an initiative intended to encourage boat building and revive rowing racing in Scottish coastal communities. Iain Oughtred was commissioned to design a suitable clinker ply boat based on the lines of the Fair Isle skiff and to be called the St Ayles skiff. Alec Jordan of Jordan Boats has Iain Oughtred to design a suitable clinker ply boat based on the lines of the Fair Isle skiff and to be called the St Ayles skiff, while kit supplier Alec Jordan of Jordan Boats has been commissioned to construct the kits.
