This morning I found the work of Miyuki Shimizu a creator of Himmeli Mobiles and structures. I like their simple geometric elegance and the shadows they cast and also wonder about the possibilities of incorporating elements of them in furniture design.
The word Hemmeli originates from the Swedish word for sky or heaven. Himmeli are a traditional Finnish mobile decoration that is traditionally made out of straw, or reeds.
