Mario Ceroli II

There are reoccurring themes within Mario Ceroli's works here we have butterflies created with layers of wood veneers and hinges, beautifully clumsy and strong, the antithesis of the creature they portray.

Mario Ceroli I

Today I had the great fortune to visit MAMbo in Bologna where there is a retrospective exhibition by Mario Ceroli with many sculptural pieces including these amazing constructions of  hinged horses. Mario started working in ceramics but influenced by pop art he moved into creating silhouette forms from wood. Mario has worked as a sculptor, set designer, installation artist and furniture designer.
