"I found that I was heavily influenced by the Art Nouveau style – in particular the work of Scottish architect, designer and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The work of Mackintosh is easily identifiable by its parallel lines and simplicity. I drew inspiration from this as well as a number of other design characteristics (high back, geometric shapes, low seating) to create my own interpretation of his Lug Chair. "
"I constructed the chair solely from White (American) Ash and upholstered both seat pads in a modern fabric design. Although the fabric print originates from Scandinavia, it reminded me of a Japanese Cherry Blossom which tied in excellently with the Mackintosh theme.
